Project accreditation & regulation

The Silva Tree Carbon offset Reforestation Project is subject to regular third party monitoring and is fully verified and accredited by internationally recognised bodies to ensure maximum environmental benefit, investor security and Carbon offset credit value

IPCC

Our project has been quantified according to IPCC world standard. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is the world’s leading authority on climate change and its impacts. Set up in 1988 with the support of the United Nations Environment Programme and the World Meteorological Organisation. The IPCC has a task force on national greenhouse gas inventories and produces periodic assessment reports providing an overview of current knowledge about climate change and its impacts.

VCS

The Voluntary Carbon Standard (VCS) is the most highly regarded official Carbon Standard in the world. VCS approved verifiers send qualified surveyors into the field once a year to ensure the quantification report is correct and in line with the Voluntary Carbon Standard’s (VCS) regulations. Once the inspector is satisfied, they approve the quantification report, and the project is deemed to be VCS approved. This ensures the quality of the credits as well as their value. The VCS standard is employed for the reforestation elements of the project.

CCBA

The Climate Community and Biodiversity Alliance is a partnership of research institutions, corporations and non-governmental organizations. The Climate, Community and Biodiversity Project Design Standards (CCB Standards) evaluate land-based carbon mitigation projects, fostering the integration of best-practice and multiple-benefit approaches into project design and evolution. The CCB Standard puts emphasis on biodiversity conservation and local community support, and is employed for the avoided deforestation elements of the project.
